Change Is a Good Thing

Changes, changes, changes. This seems to be simply everyday life for many. How often have each of us resisted change for fear of the unknown? With change, comes the opportunity to learn new things. You would love working for Accuform if you like change and continuous improvement. Those are the things I like most about this company - that we are always changing; striving to improve, exceeding customer expectations, receiving customer feedback and getting better at what we do and how we do it. We are constantly reinventing the way we service our customers.

A big change this past week was the installation of a new phone system that will now connect our manufacturing facilities. With the new install comes heartache and frustration for some who resist change. In my mind, it's all in how the employees are trained to deal with change while giving them a comfort level of the functions that they have to perform daily with their job responsibilities. All of the Account Managers MUST know exactly how to handle call-flow, transfer, park, page, call forwarding, and many other functions. Frontline workers are the key to any and all changes within any company, and it's no different here at Accuform.

In addition to the phones, we also have a new instant-messaging system that works in conjunction with the new phone system and Microsoft Outlook, and allows employees to immediately see the availability status of each of their co-workers when they're logged in. WOW, it even knows when I don’t move my keyboard for 15 minutes, and will automatically place me in the "unavailable" state. I can’t think of one single block of time during the day when my mouse is not moving; so I guess I need not worry about that.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes during change. I can assure you it will happen. When it happens you learn from it and try not to duplicate it. If you look at change as a good thing you will learn a lot, have fun and enjoy while embracing future change.
